The difference

Why our clean lasts — and theirs doesn't.

Most carpet cleaning fades within weeks — but not because of the dirt. It's what the machine leaves behind. Here's exactly what happens under the pile, and why a van-mounted hybrid clean holds.

Why it comes back

It's the residue, not the dirt.

Underpowered portables and rental units flood the pile with soapy water they can't pull back out. The detergent that soaks in never fully leaves — and that residue is the real problem. It's sticky, so it grabs airborne dust and foot-traffic soil straight back. And it holds moisture, leaving the carpet damp for days — exactly how odours and mould take hold.

A van-mounted hybrid clean is built to avoid both. Three things work as one:

  • True 120°C steam. A superheated flush that sanitises as it lifts grease, oils and embedded allergens in a single pass — no reliance on harsh detergent to do the work.
  • A conditioning rinse. pH-balanced and kid- & pet-safe, it neutralises what's left so there's no sticky detergent to grab dirt back.
  • 2–4 hour walk-on dry. A high-power vacuum pulls the moisture straight back to the van, so rooms are dry the same afternoon — not damp for days.

The result is a clean that doesn't just look done on the day. It stays clean longer, because there's nothing left in the fibre working against you.

How we compare

ApexClean vs the rest, line by line.

Written from years on the tools since 2012, then fact-checked — we claim only what a top-tier, well-maintained rig genuinely can't beat, never a number a competitor's spec sheet could disprove.

HeatMeets standard: True 120°C, sustained. LPG boiler, independent of engine load — full heat to the last room.Partial: Can match it — few sustain it. Top units rival us new; heat-exchanger rigs fade as they age or fault.Fails: No real heat. Cold, or warm water borrowed from your tap.
PressureMeets standard: Dialled to the fibre. Pressure set for each fabric — enough to flush the pile clean, never enough to force it past what it can take.Meets standard: A level field. A good rig can match it — it comes down to how carefully the operator sets it for carpet.Fails: Barely there. A surface spray and sip — nowhere near a deep flush.
ChemistryMeets standard: Safe, then serious. Pet- and kid-safe enzyme + oxygen pre-sprays standard; commercial-grade in reserve; pH-balancing rinse to finish.Partial: Strong now, costly later. Harsher agents for a fast result — great on the day, harder on fibre life.Partial: Pot luck. Ranges from okay to hazardous.
ResultMeets standard: Deep — and it lasts. Heat, chemistry and pressure tuned as one — no sticky residue, so it stays clean longer.Partial: Clean today, tired sooner. Strong on the day; less-tuned heat and heavier agents shorten fibre life.Partial: Surface only. Rental-grade heat, pressure and chemistry reach only so far.
TechnicianMeets standard: Owner-led, every job. Owner-operated since 2012, IICRC-trained — low overhead, reinvested in better chemistry.Partial: Whoever's rostered. Quality shifts with staff turnover, policy and overhead pressure. Not directly comparable: Heart, not horsepower. Often a keen operator starting out — capped by the gear, not the care.
